Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information Plan My Do collects when you use this site, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Plan My Do is a sole trader based in Cornwall, United Kingdom, and is the data controller for the information described here, apart from the guest lists our hosts upload - see "Guest lists" below, where the host is the controller and we act for them. You can reach us at hello@planmydo.com.
What we collect
- Account details - your name, email address and password.
- Event details - what you tell us about the event you are planning: dates, location, guest numbers, budget, requirements, and any free-text description you write about it.
- Guest lists - if you build a guest list for your event, the details you enter about the people you are inviting: their names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, age group, and any notes you add such as dietary requirements. Your guests do not need an account with us, and most of them will never visit this site.
- Supplier profiles - if you list a business, the details you publish about it, including services, past events and contact information. We also create basic profiles ourselves from publicly available business information, and hold them as unclaimed listings until the business claims them.
- Enquiries and messages - what hosts and suppliers send each other through the site.
- Reviews - what you write about a supplier after an event.
- Technical information - basic server logs, including your IP address, kept so we can keep the site secure and working.
Why we use it
- To provide the service - building your event plan, matching you with suppliers, and passing on enquiries. We need this to do what you have asked us to do.
- To keep the site secure and improve it - our legitimate interest in running a service that works and is not abused.
- To send you emails you have asked for - such as waitlist and launch updates, where you have given us consent. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Who we share it with
- Suppliers you contact. When you send an enquiry, the supplier sees the event details you chose to include and how to reply to you.
- Suppliers you save. When you save a supplier to a shortlist, that supplier can see that an event like yours saved them - the type of event, how close it is to them (their own town, their region, or their wider service area), the month it is in, a band for the guest count such as 100 to 150 or 200 or more, where they ranked among the suppliers we matched you with, how long ago you saved them, and whether you have since enquired or taken them off your shortlist. They cannot see your name, your contact details, where exactly your event is, or which event it is, and they have no way to reach you unless you send an enquiry.
- Suppliers near you. We show suppliers anonymous counts of how many events near them are looking for their kind of service, by month, with a broad guest-number and budget range across the whole group. These never cover fewer than five events at a time and never include anything that identifies a single one.
- Service providers who run the site for us - website hosting and email delivery. They act on our instructions and cannot use your information for their own purposes.
- Anthropic, an AI provider. We send the free-text description you write about your event to Anthropic, to help identify things you have not put in a structured field - for example, which parts you plan to organise yourself. We only send it what's needed to produce this analysis, for that purpose alone. We do not store the brief text itself in this record - only the result it gives back and a one-way fingerprint of what you sent, automatically deleted 30 days after we create it. Your event details, including the brief text, are covered separately under "How long we keep it" below.
- Google, if you accepted analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics to count visits to the public parts of the site. It receives your IP address and basic browser information. If you chose "Essential only", or have not answered the cookie banner, nothing is sent to it at all.
- Anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as a regulator or in response to a valid court order.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including Anthropic. Where that happens, we only transfer information where the law allows it. See our cookie policy for details of two further transfers that happen through your browser, both to Google: the typeface we load from Google Fonts, and Google Analytics if you accepted analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and the events attached to it for as long as your account is open. You can pause your account instead, which changes nothing about what we hold - everything is still there when you come back. If you ask us to delete your account for good, we will delete or anonymise your information, apart from anything we have to keep longer by law.
When you delete an event, or delete your account for good, we permanently destroy the personal information attached to that event - including the whole guest list - after 30 days. We keep that short window so we can put things right if you delete something by mistake. If you shared the event with someone else and they are still using it, we keep it until they are done.
Enquiries and reviews are not removed by this. A supplier keeps their own record of the work they were asked to do.
Guest lists
Your guest list is yours. You decide who goes on it and why; we store it for you and do what you ask us to do with it. In data protection terms, you are the controller of that information and we are your processor. We do not use your guests' details for our own purposes and we never market to them.
If someone has added you to a guest list here and you would rather they had not, please ask the person planning the event first - it is their list, and they can correct or remove your details themselves straight away. You can also email us at hello@planmydo.com and we will remove them for you.
Before you add someone to a list, please make sure you are entitled to share their details with us, and that they would not be surprised to find them here.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask for a copy in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on your consent.
Email hello@planmydo.com and we will respond within one month. If you are not happy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
If we have created a listing for your business from publicly available information and you have not claimed it, you can ask us to correct or remove it by emailing the address above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change matters to you, we will tell you by email.
