For suppliers

Why Event Suppliers Should Show Their Prices Online

Updated 2 September 2026 2 min read

"Contact for pricing" feels like the safe option - keep your options open, quote each job on its merits. In practice it usually costs suppliers more enquiries than it protects.

What "contact for pricing" actually costs you

  • Hosts filter themselves out before messaging you - both the ones outside your range and, just as often, the ones inside it who assume the worst and move on.
  • Every enquiry starts with a back-and-forth about budget instead of the event itself, which costs you time on people who were never going to book.
  • Hosts search "photographer cost Cornwall" and similar - with no price on your profile, you are effectively invisible to that search intent.

What a price range does instead

  • Filters in the right enquiries, and filters out the obviously mismatched ones before they reach you.
  • Signals confidence - a published range reads as "we know our value," where a blank field reads as uncertain or expensive.
  • Means the enquiries you do get already have your budget in mind, so the first message can be about the event, not a negotiation.

"But my prices vary too much to show a number"

That is what a range is for. A range still narrows a host's expectations far more than no figure at all, and you can always confirm the exact number once you know the details of the event.

It is already part of your profile

Plan My Do profiles have a dedicated price range field shown to hosts before they get in touch - if it's still blank on yours, it is the fastest change you can make this week. If your range depends on distance, work out your travel charge first so the range you publish already accounts for it.
